Review of Refrigerant Management Rule

There is a plan to phasedown hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) usage in the USA via the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act passed on December 27, 2020. EPA has been promulgating rules in 40 CFR Part 84 in response to the Act. Subpart A and Subpart B were not directly applicable to industry. Subpart C was promulgated in October 2024, and it has implications that may be directly related to the chemicals industry.
We will review the history of these new refrigerant rules starting with an overview of Subparts A and B. We will review Subpart C in detail with an emphasis on how the rule may impact the chemical industry.
