How Leadership put Man on the Moon (the True Story of Apollo 11)
Jerry Woodfill, Warning Systems Engineer, NASA
Room Location TBD
The presentation is by Apollo 11’s Spacecraft Warning System Engineer, Jerry Woodfill, still working at NASA after 53 years. It is a personal “eye witness” account testifying what Jerry learned about leadership as part of the NASA team that landed the first men on the Moon. Jerry will identify 11 Apollo 11 leaders responsible for landing the first men on the Moon 50 years ago. Among them are unique little known individuals. Their contributions will be told such as how their leadership principles overcame the tragedy of the Apollo One fire, trailing the Russians in the space race, and other setbacks. Additionally, Jerry will tell his own story in designing, managing, and implementing Apollo’s spacecraft Warning Systems. The Apollo 11 experience showed Jerry failure is not an option - that leadership is the right stuff to succeed in landing on the Moon as well as succeeding in the work place.
