The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the expectation that health and safety professionals understand infectious diseases risks and that they will, inevitably, become participants in response efforts. It’s likely that other serious threats to health loom on the horizon. This presentation will describe: The five key elements of the Global Health Security agenda, the steps being taken within our State (in the form of the Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute) to prepare for such threats, opportunities for health and safety professionals to become involved in preparedness activities.
