ABOUT SHARON
Sharon began her career with Dow in 1991 as an Alternating Term Co-op and has a diverse background of experience and contributions across businesses and functions with roles in Research & Development, EH&S Operations, Supply Chain Operations, Small Site Leadership, and Large Integrated Site Production Plant Leadership.  Sharon has made major contributions in her areas of responsibility as well as to Dow Operations as a whole.  Her ability to partner a results-driven mindset with compassionate leadership has resulted in top notch asset performance and a high level of employee engagement.

Sharon earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University occasionally serving as a guest lecturer on chemical process safety for chemical engineering undergraduates.  She attributes her data driven approach to her early career experience as a Six Sigma Black Belt.  Sharon is passionate about process safety, value contribution, and leadership development serving as both a Coach and Presenter for Dow’s Talent Development programs Lead to Exceed and Inspire to Serve.   Sharon is on Dow’s Partner for Performance team which is designed to foster better leveraging between Operations and Environmental, Health, and Safety in Dow’s pursuit of industry leading performance.  She leads Dow’s Serious Incident Review process and the Root Cause Investigation Effectiveness Team for Injuries.   Sharon is actively engaged in several of Dow’s Employee Resource Groups including WIN, GAAN, and Vet Net and always finds time to mentor others.  Sharon is the Chair of DowPAC and is an active board member of EHCMA (East Harris County Manufacturers Association) currently serving as Treasurer.  She was appointed by Governor Abbott to the Gulf Coast Protection District Board to represent the interest of Industry.   

Sharon has been married to Jonathan Hulgan for 33 years.  They have three adult children.  Daniel is an Internal Medicine Chief Resident MD in Dallas.  Joshua is a West Point engineering graduate and former US Army Captain now working for Boeing in Charleston.  Sarah is a chemical engineer working in Dow’s TX-9 Ethylene Plant.  Jonathan and Sharon reside in Friendswood and are active members of First Baptist Friendswood.
