In 2009, the Celanese Bishop facility created a Celanese / Contractor Safety Council in an effort to unify their contractors and Celanese employees with each other.  This council which is called our circle of safety brings Celanese employees and contractors together once a month to share ideas, incidents, and perform walk-throughs at the site.  The result of this circle of safety has been to encourage empowerment of our contractors to recognize and intervene with site employees as well as one another in safety issues. These meetings have an open forum and anyone can take the floor and present to the council.

LyondellBasell's Channelview facility is seeing real benefits from their Contractor Integration/Safety Committee (The CHESS Team). The Team draws on support from both Resident and Non-Resident Contractor representatives who work closely with LyondellBasell sponsors to set meeting agendas, share experiences and beat practices, and take an active role on the development of the site's safety culture.
