This presentation will aid in preparing the Chemical Loader for the challenges of loading Bulk Highway Transport Containers. The goal is to increase their Safety Awareness and Hazard Recognition while loading Hazardous Materials, as well as bring to light some "Best Practices" for the task.

Standardized Contractor Screening Programs — What and Why?

Through a committee approach including facility representatives, business associations, subject matter experts, and safety councils across the gulf coast region; two programs were born, the North American Substance Abuse Program (NASAP) and the North American Background Screening Program (NABSC). These programs are standardized contractor screening programs that allow facilities to share a common pool of workers and easily audit compliance through GateCheck, a rich internet application, without redundant costs or co-employment concerns. This presentation will describe these programs along with lessons learned.

A look at how one company is meeting the challenge of involving Contractors in overall HSE performance. LyondellBasell’s Channelview site is seeing the benefits that an active Contractor Integration/Safety Committee (The CHESS Team) can bring to this effort. The CHESS Team is made up of representatives from the site’s resident and non-resident contractor firms, who work with LyondellBasell sponsors to set the monthly meeting agenda, share experiences and best practices, and take an active role in the development of the site’s safety culture.
