The Future of Workforce Development and Practical Assessments using Virtual Reality and Simulation

Amanda Long, VP of Sales, Industrial Training Intl.

Floral A2

This presentation will explore how Simulation and Virtual Reality are enhancing workforce development and high-stakes practical assessments. Amanda will discuss the growing reliance on standards like ANSI (now ANAB) and IACET in the development and delivery of quality training and certification. Amanda will showcase examples of how organizations like Bechtel, DPR Construction, and the NSC are implementing programs which task students with practical scenarios that they are apt to encounter on an actual construction site. She'll explain how immersing users in a rich VR experience, not only brings interaction and engagement to what is typically a situation that is purely one-way communication, but also offers the business case of scalability and efficiency. ITI's Construction Hazard Awareness Certification will be featured with Amanda describing how the assessment challenges candidates to inspect a job-site and identify several risk domains including hand tools, lock out/tag out, lifting and rigging, dropped objects, -and more.
