U.S. EPA's Emphasis on Ethylene Oxide: What This Could Mean For You
Inaas Darrat, Director, Chemical Sector Services, Principal Consultant, Trinity Consultants
Floral A1
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on August 22, 2018, that it was taking steps to address ethylene oxide (EO) emissions from industrial facilities across the country based upon results of the latest National Air Toxics Assessment (NATA) update. As such, EO producers and consumers, and facilities receiving raw materials from EO producers and consumers, can expect EPA to place significant emphasis on enhanced regulation and enforcement of their industries; as recently shown in the Chicago area, this scrutiny could also lead to intense backlash from local communities and organizations. During this presentation, we will be discussing what this could mean for affected facilities, as well as considerations in preparation of EPA's heightened emphasis.
