The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) adopted revised water quality criteria for selenium and aluminum in 2016 and late 2018, respectively and this presentation will describe how these criteria may affect industrial discharger NPDES permits. Because both selenium and aluminum are ubiquitous in chemical industry process and utility water discharges, the revised criteria may significantly affect discharges to fresh water streams with low stream flows.
