Mental Focus Training in an Industrial Setting

Floral A1

Speaker: James McGovern, M.S., CSP, Safety Director

One of the most common questions asked after an injury or incident has occurred is, "How could this have happened?" An investigator is often surprised when a recordable injury has occurred involving mundane and non-hazardous work activity. We as safety professionals are continually challenged to resolve the common workplace issues, while much dangerous activity goes on routinely, with very few incidents. A common factor often identified as a cause of recordable injuries and near-miss incidents is simply lack of focus. If your employees are not focused at the time of the accident or incident, a lack of mental focus training may be the issue. Training them to adapt mental focus principles and integrate the system into your existing safety program for better results and fewer recordable incidents is a practical solution.
