Silicosis is a chronic irreversible disease that affects multiple body organs. OSHA has recently mandated additional criteria for surveillance and screening of workers to help prevent this severe disease from occurring. This discussion will focus on the health effects of this disease as well as the new OSHA rules for medical screening.
